Last week I had lunch at Buckley’s Lunchbox, and I must say that they did not disappoint. Buckley’s Lunchbox is a more casual, lunch-spot version of the original Buckley’s Fine Filet Grill They have a lighter, and less expensive, menu designed more for lunch.
I got there at 1pm, and the place was absolutely packed. I find this impressive, considering they are only open until 2:30pm! Looking around, it was mainly a business crowd. According to my aunt, it is “The Place” to go for a business lunch in East Memphis. Apparently she is not alone, as they were just voted “Best Business Lunch” by Memphis Magazine.
I had the Bangkok Salad with steak, because how can you go to Buckley’s and not get steak? It had yummy dark greens, red bell peppers, crunchy rice noodles, fresh cucumber, all mixed together with Buckley’s famous steak. Topped with a Thai peanut dressing, it definitely hit the spot.
The one disappointing part was that I unfortunately did not see Buckley’s Cow Pie on the Lunchbox menu. There is a chance that I passed over it by accident, but it seems to me that, next to steak, the Cow Pie is a signature dish. Chewy chocolate chip cookies topped with french vanilla ice cream, with a caramel sauce. mmm…. How could you resist? Well, if you are not given the option, it makes it a bit easier.
Overall, this place is great though. The service was quick and attentive. The food was great, and it came out quick. It is a great lunch spot for people who only have an hour lunch break and have to get back to work. Co-owner Jeff Fiornelli (seen below), who also runs the place on a day-to-day basis, knows his stuff.
